Dear Members
Following the tragic events this past weekend in the Elite Ice Hockey League in Britan, I wanted to reach out to all and remind them of the importance of player safety.
Hockey is a fast pace, high intensity sport. Members, their families, and friends participate for the love of the game in a safe, fun and inclusive environment. Despite best efforts of all involved, accidents can and do happen. It is the job of each and everyone of us involved with hockey in Newfoundland and Labrador to try and reduce all risks you may encounter to the best of our abilities. In this instance, would like to take the opportunity to remind everyone about the importance of wearing BNQ-certified throat protector in all practices, pre-game warm ups and games. They are required for the simple reason that they can save lives and prevent catastrophic injuries.
Have fun and stay safe!
