RE: MANDATORY SEXUAL VIOLENCE PREVENTION PROGRAM
Please be advised that Hockey NL as partnered with Amy Graham and Team SVP to deliver a mandatory sexual violence prevention program for all of AAA coaching staff in the U15 and U18 open/female programs as well as our Junior B staff this hockey season. This program is free of charge this season and we require all the staff to have this completed with their certificate of completion filed with our office by no later than October 31, 2022. The program consists of an online module approximately one (1) hour in duration and containing both video and text portions. The participant is required to answer questions during the program related to the content that has been delivered. Upon successful completion, the member shall receive a certificate. All staff members of U15 and U18 AAA Minor/Female and all staff members of Junior Hockey teams are required to complete the program without exception. Coaching staff in lower categories of Under 15 and Under 18 in MHA’s wishing to complete the module may do so on a voluntary basis up until December 31, 2022.
We encourage staff to use the awareness, education, and resources to determine the appropriate time to have conversations with their athletes in relation to the many important areas of the training modules.
This is a pilot project as stated. The expectation is that the evaluation of the project over the year will inform its potential expansion in future seasons.
